A fallen boxer. A woman with a broken dream. A competition… He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting… Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life. He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . . But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me. I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations. If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

You know that moment when something you didn’t really expect much from completely blindsides you because it’s not just better than you expected it to be… no… it’s not even a tiny bit better than better… nope… that moment when you don’t expect much but you end up getting the whole freaking world and much much more? It’s REAL and I’m living that moment right about now! Real is everything and… nothing I expected it to be. I finished this book in a matter of 4 hours. It’s currently at the very top of my 2013 favorite books. Wow… just… wow!
Remy watches me from the door with such fierce longing, I stop brushing my teeth, my mouth full of foam when I notice his stare. He looks hungry. Feral. Almost desperate. I quickly rinse as he approaches and towel off my hands. He’s not smiling. His black eyes swallow me in their depths. He lifts me easily in his arms and carries me back to the room.
It all started out as one of those books you notice and then forget about and then on a whim you purchase it, but with not much intention of reading it anytime soon… I was saving it as a filler read. The reason I ended up reading it as soon as I have, is because on GR member said she was waiting to hear what I thought and I wanted to give her my thoughts sooner rather than later… so last night, I started it and within a few hours I’d destroyed that book! Real is about a really sweet, loving girl named Brooke, who, one night, goes out with her friend to an underground fighting match. The moment she lays eyes on Remy, she’s a goner.
Weakness travels up my legs and it is taking over every ounce of my willpower. I’ve never craved anyone’s gaze like I crave his. Need anyone’s touch like I need his. Or want anything as painfully fiercely as I want him.
I will say that majority of this book is about the lust Brooke feels when Remy is near or even when she just thinks about him. There was a moment at about 40-ish % where I was a little done with hearing how ‘wet’ she was getting and how much her special lady parts throbbed when he was nearby… it did get a bit much after a while and I felt it was repetitive. I also felt that the cat and mouse game went on a bit to long and it felt like a very long first half of the book. But then… Bam – Fifty percent and onwards was magnificent. This is were I understood the title of the book. It all made sense and I instantly fell in love with Brooke, Remy, Katy Evans and Real. I must make mention about parts in the book where I went OMF, she didn’t just put this in here… it was raw and uncensored. I was shocked at some of the content that made it’s way into this book… but I can’t say I didn’t love every single second that I found myself in a complete loss for words. Author Katy Evans doesn’t hold anything back. It’s frighteningly raw and superbly sexy! Anyway… the long and the short of this review is that Brooke proves that the REAL Remy is who she fell in love with and their journey towards the end is simply beautiful. I’m even more excited that there will be a second book in this series, called Mine. I furthermore love that even though the tale continues, author Katy Evan’s didn’t leave us hanging. Everything was pulled together at the end of the book. No cliffier, no WTF… just “I WANT MORE”! Since it’s a debut novel for author Katy Evans, I have to make a scene about this – It’s seldom that I’ve found a new author creeping into my top book category, it’s even more uncommon for that book to end up at the top of my list at any point during the year. Real is at my top right now! It’s the best, best book I’ve read this far over the last 4 months of 2013 and I’m thinking it’s going to be hard to top it. What I loved most about Real is that even though it’s hot as hell, it’s sexual and it’s freaking steamy… it’s also emotional and deep. Not the stupid kind of boy and girl break up and girl is in despair… nope… the everyday kind of emotional and deep. The REAL kind of love and the REAL kind of devotion. It’s fan-freaking-tastic!
Rating: 5 Stars!
